My Blog's Name

Why did I name my blog, Serenity Soul Space Blog? How did I come up with that name?

I started blogging just to see if I could stick with it and eventually run a successful platform. You know…challenge and develop myself, try something new and uncomfortable–all the topics I write about here.

I can’t just write about these trending topics, share them with you, and not do them myself 😜!

I made a promise that if I decided to blog, then I would do it with intention and I would 100% commit to the slow, steady process of success.

Before actually starting, I watched many YouTube videos and read a lot of Pinterest articles on how to start a blog and what software you need to have in place in order to get going.

As a result, I purchased my web hosting service and website platform like every blogger.

It was when I was signing up for the web hosting service one weekend that I got to the part that asked for my blog’s name.

I was stuck. Hell, I didn’t know. I hadn’t thought that far in advance at the time.

So I stepped away from my computer for a couple of hours to give this some thought.

I knew I wanted my blog to be a safe, positive space where I didn’t have to scale my niche down to one subject area.

I didn’t want to limit what I felt like writing about on any given day.

Do you ever get revelations or epiphanies while showering? Well, this is how I got the name for my blog.

Anything I do requires peace, serenity, and no drama. The people in my close circle represent those three virtues.

After all, I am a Libra.

Libras are known for our charm, diplomacy, and pursuit of balance and harmony. I could not (for whatever reason) shake the word “serenity” out of my mind; therefore, I kept it.

Being an English teacher, I started thinking about alliteration – where consonant sounds in two or more neighboring words or syllables are repeated. You know like, “Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.”

It was at that moment that I decided I wanted the name of my blog to start with the letter S. So the second word “soul” came easy because, well, I have a lot of it by default 😁.

Still in the shower (with the entire bathroom fogged up) I came up with the third S word “space.” That wasn’t too hard to come up with because I knew I wanted a platform that was a safe space for others and for all of us to engage in the comments section.

I wanted to leave my blog name as Serenity Soul Space, but that name was already taken.

Luckily, the hosting service I was signing up with offered several blog name options with the title, Serenity Soul Space but added a fourth word at the end which would make the name for my blog available.

As a result, I kept it simple and chose the word blog that was offered–hence, the birth of Serenity Soul Space Blog.

Do I wish I could change my blog’s name? ABSOLUTELY!

I’m never 100% satisfied when it comes to details like this. I am my own worst critic!

I should have gone shorter for sure and picked something more deep and relatable to me. But, oh well! At this stage in the game, I am definitely not going to redo my logos, domain name, email address, Pinterest pins, etc.—all for a name change. I’ll just be content and make the most of it.
