I used to hate my Sunday nights worrying about the start of the new work week ahead. As a result, I would toss and turn all night [kind of half asleep] thinking about all the things I had to do the next day and who I had to see that I didn’t particularly care for.
If you read my previous article, Why You Feel Anxious on Sunday Even When Nothing is Wrong, then you already know that this feeling is way more common than most people talk about.
I lived in that cycle for a long time, and I tried a lot of things to break it. But nothing really changed the way my Sunday nights felt until a friend told me about the Hatch Restore 3.
What Even Is the Hatch Restore 3?
The Hatch Restore 3 is a smart alarm clock and sleep machine that sits on your nightstand and basically transforms the way you wind down at night and wake up in the morning.
It has a built-in sunrise alarm that slowly fills your room with warm light before your alarm goes off, so you wake up gradually instead of being jolted awake by a loud sound. It also plays sleep sounds, guided meditations, and calming content that helps your brain shift from “go mode” to “rest mode.”
Furthermore, it connects to an app on your phone so you can customize everything from colors, sounds, and; of course, timing.
Now, I going to be honest with you. It’s a bit pricey, but stay with me and keep reading.
Why Sunday Night Specifically?
Most people think of alarm clocks as a morning thing. I get that. But the Hatch Restore 3 does something really powerful for Sunday evenings specifically because it gives you a real wind-down routine to follow.
Before I had it, my Sunday nights looked like this: phone in hand scrolling, TV on in the background, half-anxious, half-zoned out, not really resting but not really doing anything productive either. I was just stuck in that weird middle space where the weekend wasn’t over but Monday was already breathing down my neck.
Now my Sunday nights look completely different.
Around 9 PM, I turn on my Hatch. I pick a calming soundscape (usually something like rain or soft ambient noise) and I let the warm glow of the light fill my room. Then I actually put my phone down. The light itself signals to my brain that it is time to slow down. Something about having that visual and audio cue makes it easier to actually transition into rest instead of just going through the motions.
It sounds almost too simple. But seriously it works.
The Sunrise Wake-Up Changed Monday Mornings Too
Here is something I did not expect. When I started winding down better on Sunday nights, I also started sleeping better. And when I started sleeping better, Monday mornings stopped feeling like punishment.
The sunrise alarm feature on the Hatch Restore 3 gradually brightens your room about 30 minutes before your alarm goes off. Your body starts waking up naturally, the way it would if sunlight were coming through the window. By the time the actual alarm sound plays, you are already halfway awake and you feel less rushed to get out of bed than you have in years.
I used to wake up every Monday already feeling behind. Now I wake up and I actually feel like I have a few seconds to breathe before the day starts. That shift alone has been worth every penny of the price tag.

Who Is the Hatch Restore 3 Actually For?
This product is honestly great for almost anyone; but it is especially useful if you are someone who struggles with Sunday night anxiety, has a hard time waking up in the mornings, works early shifts, has a demanding Monday schedule, or just wants a healthier, calmer wind-down routine.
You do not have to be someone with a serious sleep problem to benefit from it. You just have to be someone who wants Sunday nights to feel less stressful and Monday mornings to feel less brutal. That covers a lot of people.
A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Buy
One thing I want to be upfront about is the Hatch+ subscription. When you purchase the Hatch Restore 3, it comes with a 30-day free trial of Hatch+ premium content and features for new subscribers.
After that trial period, Hatch+ costs $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year, and you can cancel anytime. The alarm clock itself still works without it, so you are not locked into anything. But honestly, the premium content is where a lot of the good stuff lives (i.e. the guided meditations, the sleep programs, the deeper library of sounds) and at less than $5 a month, it is pretty easy to justify keeping it.
Setup is just as easy as the price makes it sound. The whole thing took me less than 10 minutes to get connected and customized through the app.
My Honest Take
I bought the Hatch Restore 3 thinking it was just a fancy alarm clock. What I actually got was something that helped me fix one of the most draining patterns in my weekly routine.
Sunday nights used to feel dreadful. Now they feel like preparation for something manageable, and that is actually a really big shift when you multiply it by 52 weeks a year.
If you are tired of the Sunday scaries and waking up Monday already exhausted, the Hatch Restore 3 might be the one small thing that changes that for you the way it changed it for me.
You can check it out here on Amazon and see the reviews for yourself. Over 3,000 people have rated it, and the feedback speaks for itself.
